EVENT’S DESCRIPTION:

The week of the 21-27/02/2022, Solution organized the fourth session of the debates to monitor the Restauration du Mur à pêches de Montreuil project.

11 people participated in the 4th debate of Civic Monitoring in France. 6 of them are younger than 30 years old and 6 are between 30 and 65 years old. 5 of them are men and 6 are women.

This debate took place in Montreuil, the city where the Mur à pêches is placed, in order to involve inhabitants of this city who know this public site. After reminding/presenting the objectives of the Restauration du Mur à pêches de Montreuil project and of Civic Monitoring project, Solution launched a discussion about the funds used by the European Commission in general and more in particular about those used for the Mur à pêches. One of the participants said that he is “skeptical about the real intervention of the European Union on our lives” and also affirmed that he heard that often the regional projects don’t have a real impact on people. Another participant affirmed that she lives near the Mur à pêches and she appreciates how this historical site is well preserved and the opportunity that it offers to locals “to spend an afternoon in a green and pleasant place”. Another participant added that she has already met the responsible and keepers of the Mur à pêches and had the chance to speak to them and know more about the history of this place and how it was renewed. However, it seems that the project has not been advertised in an effective way, because among the participants living in Montreuil, only one knows that the Mur à pêches had been restored thanks to European funds.

Then, Solution presented the Monithon website to the participants and explained that this tool is useful to monitor the projects funded by the ERDF funds of the European Union and that we will use it to monitor the Restauration du Mur à pêches de Montreuil project.  Patrizia added that the next step will be to organize a visit at the Mur à pêches, collecting testimonies from local people and the keepers of the site.
