EVENT DESCRIPTION:

The organization has decided to carry out the second event-debate of the civic monitoring process involving some students of the high school from the “Volta” Economic and Commercial Institute of Campi Salentina (province of Lecce), the same town where the monitored project is located. This choice was made to extend participation in the civic monitoring process to school institutions and students both with the intention of promoting the practice of civic monitoring in the context of school civics studies and also to strengthen the civic monitoring task force dedicated to the evaluation of the natural oasis realized with the EU structural funds.

The facilitators Daniela and Alice explained to the students:
– What civic monitoring is and the methodology developed by Monithon;
– The role of the European structural funds in ensuring cohesion and harmonization between the different European regions;
– The “Civic Monitoring for the Future of Europe” project that our European partnership is carrying out in 6 EU countries, the objectives and the project selected by Mobius Circle to be monitored by citizens, namely the naturalistic oasis of Campi Salentina.

The students were guided through the desk research aimed to trace the administrative history of the project from the presentation of the EU financing request to the implementation of the building works. The retraicing work was done above all through the research, analysis and display of the information contained in the municipal decisions and resolutions available on the website of the Municipality of Campi Salentina. In light of the lack of some information necessary to complete the picture, it was decided with the students to organize an interview with the person in charge of the procedure within the municipality. The interview will probably be carried out before the next public debate. A video interview will be produced as well.
