EVENT DESCRIPTION:

In the third meeting of the DEMOSTENE Centro Studi association for the monitoring of the “New urban centralities in peripheral areas” project of the Municipality of Milan, the participants, who carried out the inspections in the five places provided for by the project between December and January, presented to all the participants the results of their inspections.

What has been noted is that not all construction sites have actually begun, and only one can be said to be finished, while a second is almost completed.

The communities involved in the works are not very aware of what is happening, and despite the Municipality and MM spa three years ago we held meetings to make the inhabitants participate in the design, this does not seem to have been very successful.

For the completed / almost completed sites, the inspection highlighted the achievement of the objective of recovering places for socializing, while it is unclear in what terms there was a real environmental gain, apart from the reduction in traffic due to the creation of new areas. pedestrian.
